Glass Ball and Claw Foot Table
This table is made from my favorite; solid "quarter sawn" white oak. The table's glass ball and claw feet really sets off the beauty of the wood.
This table is made from my favorite wood; solid "quarter sawn" white oak. The table's glass ball and claw feet really sets off the beauty of the wood. This table was in fair shape before repairs were started. Three of the legs were loose and and the fourth leg was broke off. The lower shelf was split apart at the glue joints into three pieces. The top of the table was split in half at a glue joint.

Repairs: The legs were re-drilled and all the hardware to attach the legs to the table was replaced. The original animal hide glue was removed from the splits on the lower shelf and the tabletop before regluing. After a thorough cleaning and sanding, a new finish was applied using three coats of wipe-on polyurethane satin varnish. Before varnishing, two coats of shellac were sprayed onto the bottom of the tabletop.
