100 Year Old Piano Bench made of Chestnut
While disassembling this bench I realized it was made of Chestnut. Another surprise came as I removed the plywood from the top and discovered it originally had a caned seat. One of the legs was broken but could be repaired. One of the stretchers was broke in two and had to be replaced. The top, where the plywood had been nailed on, was full of nail holes and the chestnut was stained from the rusting of the nails. The top would have to be bleached to remove the stains.
